Candles By Location: New Orleans

Famously associated with Mardi Gras, New Orleans holds a special charm and distinctive bright energy not found anywhere else. Known for its recognized culture, Creole eats, and annual celebrations and festivities, New Orleans is filled with bright colors and sounds. When we think of walking down the streets of the “Big Easy”, we’re reminded of our Mandarin + Resins candle. With notes of mandarin, pink pepper, and cypress, this blend of aromas instantly brings you to a festive and optimistic mood, tying familiarity with the feelings we get from visiting New Orleans. Here are just a few of our favorite spots to visit when in the famous city in the South!

NEW ORLEANS MUSEUM OF ART

Famous for its elegant and grand architecture, the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is a staple to visit. The museum is home to numerous art exhibitions, such as French and American art, photography, glass, as well as a sculpture garden. The twelve-acre Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden has over 90 sculptures orientated on a beautifully landscaped site with walkways, reflecting waters, and surrounded by nature. The NOMA is a signature Southern fine art museum, reminding us of the iridescent visually aesthetic vessel of our Mandarin + Resin candle.

FRENCH QUARTER

The historic heart of New Orleans, the French Quarter is a historic landmark for this city. Known for its Bohemian charm, steamboat cruises, nightlife, and century-old restaurants, this neighborhood is bustling with character and personality. The French Quarter is home to numerous historic landmarks such as Jackson Square and Bourbon Street. A trip to New Orleans would not be complete without a beignet. We recommend stopping by Cafe du Monde, known for their classic beignets. For drinks out with friends, we recommend Bar Tonique, with its classic New Orlean architecture, be surrounded by its casual glam. We recommend trying their Pimm’s Cup, a cocktail mix of Pimm's No. 1, House-Made Demerara Syrup, Orange Juice, and Lemon Juice, reminding us of the mandarin aroma in our Mandarin + Resin candle.

CITY PARK

New Orleans City Park is a perfect opportunity to unwind and get some fresh air. Featuring numerous ornate gardens, Spanish moss-covered oak trees, the park provides picturesque views to enjoy. The vast public park provides numerous recreational activities, such as mini-golf, as well as a massive tennis court. If you are in New Orleans during the holiday season, be sure to visit the park for its Celebration in the Oaks. The park will be decked out with flashy light displays and twinkling lights, enchanting visitors since 1980.

CANAL STREET

Known for the street where parades are typically held for Mardi Gras, Canal Street is filled with the unique New Orleans energizing charm. Canal Street is also a go-to place for shopping, dining, socializing, and live entertainment. Be sure to catch a ride on one of the Canal Street streetcars, to complete your New Orlean experience. Be sure to visit the Roosevelt Hotel, a blend of history and luxury, for a visually exquisite experience. Especially during the holiday season, the hotel is decked out in festivity. A stroll down Canal Street is an instant mood booster for us, and the same can be said for that of our Mandarin + Resins candle.

Characterized by its high and fun energy, New Orleans is an eccentric place to visit. Smelling our Mandarin + Resins candle, you’ll be reminded of the same feeling of being in the colorful and glowing environment of the Mardis Gras city itself.
